It Will Look Brand New
The first step in most restorations is media blasting. This is the process of taking a material the size and look of sand, and blasting the logs to rid them of old stain, debris, mold, and damaged layers of wood. This brings the logs right back their original glory – like they were freshly milled.
We use sustainable materials to media blast your log home.
Our favorite two options are
Recycled Glass Media: These glass pieces are the size of sand grains. We tarp the area around your home to catch as much of the material as possible. What remains is no larger, or more harmful, than the sand found in your driveway, or yard.
Corn Media: This material is just what it sounds like, ground corn about the size of sand and is biodegradable.
Either medium provides a great look.
The blasting is done much like sand blasting, or pressure washing. The media is sprayed on the logs, under pressure, using abrasion to remove the undesirable wood – leaving a shiny, healthy looking log behind.
During this process, we test the water running off the logs for the PH Value.
Wood needs to have the correct PH in order to take stain properly. Here in Vermont that PH level should be between 6 and 8. We make sure your logs are at the proper PH before applying the stain or sealant. We offer this extra service because we are looking to give you the best quality and longest lasting results for your money.
