Starting in construction right out of high school, both guys spent years working for other companies. Long hours and long drives to jobs got them thinking about what they could do themselves.
One thing they both noticed was that Northern Vermont was missing local log home services but there were a lot of log cabins in the area. Most of the restoration and maintenance work was being done by companies from outside the area, or from outside the state. They also noticed that many contractors went outside the area to get their supplies.
This was something they could do, enjoyed doing, and so they struck out on their own – specializing in the care of log homes.
Andrew and Justin are committed to quality work, using local resources and local companies whenever possible, and working with products that are the best for the customer.
Shadow Lake Log Homes is also a Preferred Applicator of Perma-Chink products. This means the company attends biannual Applicator Only Workshop events hosted by Perma-Chink Systems to learn the latest products, application techniques, etc. Perma-Chink applicators have to be insured and have to have a job approved by Perma-Chink to gain this status. Shadow Lake Log Homes also works with Q8 representatives. This gives home owners a variety of products to choose from so that their log home has the perfect look and feel.
Supplies, milled logs, and other building necessities come from local businesses as much as possible. The team works with Authentic Log Homes from Hardwick, Vermont, Goodridge Lumber out of Albany, Vermont, and other local businesses.
Keeping money local is a huge goal for Shadow Lake Log Homes. To this end, when supplies are needed that cannot be obtained through partners, the guys look to other Vermont hardware stores or supply companies.
This is true when it comes to work as well. When equipment or extra hands are needed, the team works with a list of local contractors.
